What Happens If I Start Botox and Then Stop Botox?

What happens if you start Botox and then stop?

According to board-certified NYC dermatologist Dr. Doris Day, you don’t have to keep using Botox once you start. Your wrinkles won’t worsen if you stop; they will simply return to their natural state as Botox wears off. Botox treatments are generally low-risk. If you like the results, you can continue treatment, and if you don’t, the effects will fade relatively quickly.

However, for women in perimenopause or beyond, Dr. Day advises caution when using Botox on the forehead, as overuse can block movement and cause the forehead to droop. Always ensure your provider is an expert in administering Botox. When used properly, Botox can offer subtle and natural-looking results.

Botox is a brand name for botulinum toxin A. It is injected into the face and temporarily paralyzes muscles. Many safe products are on the market, including Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, Daxxify, and Jeuveau. Botox and fillers can help with deeper facial lines and wrinkles.

Fillers:

Fillers can help restore lost volume, but it’s important that they are administered by a professional who understands the complexities of aging skin. As bone, deep fat, and ligaments age at different rates, the approach must be balanced.

Simply “chasing lines” or “filling holes” can lead to an unnatural look. Always seek an expert in aging skin for filler treatments to ensure the best outcome.

Dermal fillers can last anywhere from three months to five years. Fillers in more ‘active’ areas such as the lips, tend to break down faster than areas with less movement like the cheeks.

Other Treatments:

Chemical peels, dermabrasion, microneedling, ultrasound energy, radio frequency, and laser resurfacing are popular cosmetic procedures for enhancing the youthfulness of the skin. The benefits of these procedures are enhanced if estrogen is not too low.
